Report: First Hour of Comintern-Axis War on Vega Would Produce Over Ten Million Casualties
A report published by the Douglas-Collbohm Corporation analyzed five scenarios to determine the immediate effects of a conventional war on Vega. Even with limited nuclear, chemical, and orbital strikes, the destruction would “eclipse every previous conflict in the Orion Arm.”
Highlighted in the report are the tens of thousands of rocket, tube, and orbital artillery pieces located in the Vega system as part of the ongoing, nearly twenty-year military build-up by the Soviet Union, the German Reich, and their allies.
The vast majority of the initial fighting would occur in the Vitus megalopolis on Vega proper, one of the largest city clusters in the Orion Arm, which has been divided between the communist People’s Republic of Vega and the fascist Vega Union State following the Second Solar War.
Our Analysis:
Vega's unique political and military divisions have made it among the most closely studied potential flashpoints in the Orion Arm. This study incorporated extensive data obtained during both the Second Solar War and the First Vega War, the latter concluding in 2263.
In both conflicts, the challenges of fighting in a megalopolis-sized urban battlefield prolonged combat, complicated logistics, and increased civilian casualties. The report warns a modern war would amplify these issues exponentially.
