Thousands feared Dead on Soviet Agri-World As mass Unexplained Firestorms Rage

Over three hundred million acres of farmland are burning on the Soviet world of Barnaul as authorities struggle to uncover the cause. A mass loss as life has been confirmed, with several communities caught in the rapidly spreading wildfires.

Our Analysis: Barnaul is one of many planets in the Soviet Union dedicated entirely to agricultural production. Though immensely productive, the continent-sized farms that make up these “agri-worlds” rely on extremely precise climate regulation and ecosystem management.

Though strategic reserves will be more than enough to make up the immediate loss, should these fires continue, the reconstruction effort may last decades.
